Description

Reading Evidence for KS1

This bank of resources will provide you with a wealth of activities to promote the strategies and discussions to help to reach age-related expectations and beyond in reading at the end of KS1.  They have been devised by an experienced KS1 Moderator to use with her own class to provide opportunities to compare and contrast a range of texts and genres, characters, emotions and story plots in a variety of different ways.  Teaching these skills will lead to the independent application within a wide variety of texts read independently by the children.

Independent completion of these activities will help to provide evidence of reaching the expected and greater depth standards in reading, focusing on the inference, prediction and comparison of texts statements in the Teacher Assessment Framework and the National Curriculum.

Please note that there are no expectations of these written outcomes for the end of KS1 moderation, but these resources have been requested by teachers to use as ideas for their teaching and to provide evidence if necessary.  They can be used within a day to day teaching programme.

Many of the activities can also be used in Lower Key Stage Two and adapted to the texts studied.  All materials are editable.
