This informative and practical course is designed to support teachers, Phase Leaders and English Subject leaders.
This course is led by Jenni Sadler – Jen is an experienced teacher, who has taught in both Key Stage 1 and 2. Currently, she is Lead Practitioner, leading CPD and support for recently qualified teachers and ECTs. Jen currently teaches part-time in Upper Key Stage Two and also leads an English team across her own school. She has written English resources for The Teach Hub and delivers training alongside Claire Hubbard.
Course Content
This course celebrates poetry and its importance within the primary curriculum. We explore high-quality poems that can be used across KS1 and KS2 to promote reading for pleasure and a love of language that will engage, motivate and enthuse readers and writers. Time will be spent exploring how to use poetry within the classroom to deepen discussion and as models to inspire high-quality writing.
