Description
Whole Class Reading resources and planning for Year 2, in a zip file based on Lou Carter and Deborah Allwright’s ‘There is No Dragon in This Story’ linking beautifully to many traditional tales including ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. Vocabulary, Prediction, Sequencing, Clarification, Questioning and Comparison and are all covered in this unit. Teaching children how to compare two texts can lead to the independent skills needed for some Greater Depth coverage in Year 2.
In this pack you will find 2 x whole class lessons (an hour long for each – or you can split them); an editable PowerPoint presentation; vocabulary focus; full planning using the KS1 Reading Domains; numerous task sheets for you to choose from; and the word document texts – all ready to print. There are also links in the planning documents to a YouTube story and other linked resources. Some examples of using this text by Year 2 children have also been included.
You will need to purchase this book to complete the unit. Please note that for our KS1 units, we provide a text extract that differs from the actual book. It is against copyright to take and reproduce the text/pictures directly from a published book, so we always try to use our texts for the units based on the original. We always recommend that teachers have at least one copy of the book and read the original text with their pupils, then switch to the amended version that is based on the original.
