Whole Class Reading resources and planning for Year 1 in a zip file based on Bev Evans’ retelling of the Traditional Tale, ‘The Three Little Pigs’ focusing on retrieval, visualisation and sequencing. An ideal unit to use to retell this traditional tale and to link to science work on materials.
In this pack you will find 2 x ‘Whole Class’ detailed lessons plans ready to use (the lessons being an hour long each – or you can split them to teach in shorter sessions throughout the week), an editable PowerPoint presentation; vocabulary focus throughout; the task sheets with scaffolding support at two levels and the texts all ready to print. These resources will support the teaching of reading at different abilities and will help to assess the reading skills of the pupils.

It is against copyright to take and reproduce the text/pictures directly from a published book, so we always try to use our texts for the units based on the original. We always recommend that teachers have at least one copy of the text and read the original text with their pupils, then switch to the amended version that is based on the original.
