Course Overview
This informative course is designed by the STA to prepare Key Stage Two moderators for the 2027 moderation processes. We are inviting Year 6 teachers and SLT/English Leads to join us to be able to receive exactly the same training as the moderators when assessing writing. This is a unique opportunity to delve deeply into each statement of the Teacher Assessment Framework and receive up-to-date, supportive CPD to understand the principles when assessing writing at each standard. All of the Key Stage Two moderators will also be in attendance and some will remain to sit the Standardisation Test One in the afternoon.
Course Content
- STA writing training for KS2 moderators and teachers for the end of Key Stage Two
- Looking at writing expectations for WTS, EXS and GDS in Year 6
- Looking at evidence in detail to make judgements between standards
- Step-by -step training led by the Walsall LA moderation manager with the whole of the Key Stage Two moderation team attending
- Complete transparency of the training offered to moderators for the 2027 cycle
- Evidence collection ideas based on current training – looking at high priorities for writing in classrooms for Summer Term 2027
